GMX Imap Settings Outlook 2016

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. It is used to receive email messages on email clients. To configure an email account in an email client, you need the IMAP and SMTP settings.

The GMX IMAP settings for Outlook 2016 are provided below.

  • Step 1: Incoming mail server:
  • Step 2: User name: You full GMX email address
  • Step 3: Password: Your GMX Mail account’s password
  • Step 4: IMAP Port (secure): 993
  • Step 5: IMAP Port (insecure): 143

Follow these steps to configure your GMX IMAP settings in Outlook 2016:

  • Step 1: Before configuring the GMX IMAP settings in Outlook 2016, you have to activate the forwarding feature on your GMX account.
  • Step 2: Open the default browser on your Windows computer and visit the official GMX Mail page.
  • Step 3: Log in to your GMX account with your login credentials and click the Email tab.
  • Step 4: Click on Settings and choose POP3 & IMAP from the drop-down list.
  • Step 5: Select the Send and receive emails via external program (Outlook, Thunderbird) checkbox.
  • Step 6: Save the configured settings and log out of your GMX account.
  • Step 7: Launch Outlook 2016 on your computer.
  • Step 8: Click the File menu and select Info from the left-side panel.
  • Step 9: Click the Add account button and choose the Manual setup or additional server types option.
  • Step 10: Click Next and choose the POP or IMAP option.
  • Step 11: Enter a name for your account and email address in the User Information section.
  • Step 12: Under Server Information, enter the incoming and outgoing server details.
  • Step 13: In the Incoming mail server field, enter ‘’ and in the Outgoing mail server field, enter ‘’
  • Step 14: Enter your GMX account details such as email address and password in the Logon Information field.
  • Step 15: Click the More Settings button to open the Internet Email Settings window.
  • Step 16: Navigate to the Outgoing Server tab and select the My outgoing server requires authentication and Use the same settings as your incoming mail server options.
  • Step 17: Click the Advanced tab and configure the port details for your GMX account.
  • Step 18: After configuring the necessary details, click OK and verify your server settings.
  • Step 19: Click the Test Account Settings button to verify your server settings.
  • Step 20: Once the account has been verified, click Next and select Finish to complete the account setup.
