- Step 1: On your computer, launch Mailbird by double-clicking its shortcut icon on the desktop.
- Step 2: If this is the first time setup in Mailbird, you will see the Welcome dialog box. Follow the on-screen prompts and add your Hotmail account.
- Step 3: If you have already configured other email accounts in Mailbird, click the Mailbird menu and select Options.
- Step 4: Choose Accounts and then click the Add button from the right-side panel.
- Step 5: In the Create Account dialog box, enter a name for your email account in the Your Name field.
- Step 6: Type the correct email address in the Email field and click Continue.
- Step 7: Enter your email account password in the Password field and click Continue to configure Mailbird for Hotmail settings.
- Step 8: In the Settings found dialog box, click on Edit server settings to begin mailbird hotmail settings.
- Step 9: On the Edit settings screen, go to the Incoming server section and choose IMAP from the Server type drop-down menu.
- Step 10: Type ‘imap-mail.outlook.com’ in the Server name field and enter 993 in the Port field.
- Step 11: Choose SSL/TLS from the Encryption pull-down menu and enter your email account in the Username field.
- Step 12: Input the password for your Hotmail email account in the Password field and go to the Outgoing server section.
- Step 13: Type ‘smtp-mail.outlook.com’ in the SMTP server field and enter 587 in the Port field.
- Step 14: Choose TLS as your encryption type and select the Requires authentication checkbox.
- Step 15: Type the correct email address in the Username field and password for your email account in the Password field.
- Step 16: Click Continue to finish setting up mailbird hotmail settings.
