How To Perform Email Settings?

The email is a famous email service that allows you to access email accounts from desktop email clients and mobile phones. The email settings include POP3/IMAP and SMTP protocols. The POP3 or IMAP protocol is used for receiving emails to your email program. The SMTP protocol is to send emails from your email program. You need the email server settings mentioned below to configure your email account in email programs.

  • Step 1: Incoming mail server (IMAP/POP3):
  • Step 2: Server port number (IMAP): 993
  • Step 3: Server port number (POP3): 995
  • Step 4: Security type: SSL
  • Step 5: Username: email address
  • Step 6: Password: email account password
  • Step 7: Outgoing mail server:
  • Step 8: Server port number (SMTP): 587
  • Step 9: Security type: SSL

Steps To Configure Email Settings In Mozilla Thunderbird:

  • Step 1: Start by launching Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer.
  • Step 2: Next, click the Tools menu and select Account Settings from the submenu.
  • Step 3: Alternatively, click the Application Menu button and select Options –> Account Settings.
  • Step 4: In the Account Settings window, click the Account Actions button at the bottom-left corner and select the Add Mail Account option.
  • Step 5: Give a name for your email account by entering it in the Your Name field and then enter your email address in the Email address field.
  • Step 6: Enter your email account password in the Password field and click Continue.
  • Step 7: Click on Manual Configuration and proceed with configuring the email server settings.
  • Step 8: Enter the incoming mail server name, ports, and security type in the required fields.
  • Step 9: Make sure to choose either POP3 or IMAP as your account type before configuring the incoming mail server settings.
  • Step 10: To test the manual settings, click the Re-test button.
  • Step 11: Once the test is complete, click the Outgoing Server (SMTP) button at the bottom-left corner of the Account Settings window.
  • Step 12: Under Settings, enter your outgoing mail server name and port number.
  • Step 13: In the Security and Authentication section, enter your email address in the User Name field and choose your security type from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 14: Click OK and finish configuring the email settings in Thunderbird.
